What’s this you might ask?
The other day on the train to work, I decided to change up my reading regiment from Salt, Sugar, Fat (also a good book, but I was struggling through a dry bit of it) to catch up on some soccer magazines I’ve neglected the past few months. I turned first to one of my old mainstays, and the magazine that really broadened my soccer horizons and opened the door to a lifelong fanaticism, FourFourTwo, had a snippet about a guy named Chris who quit his job as a primary school teacher to focus on a passion of his. LEGOs.
Not just any LEGO sets, but custom soccer stadia, League Cup standings, and pencil holders (yes – I do realize how nerdy that sounds)! Now wait, I know pencil holders sounds terribly geeky and lame, but they’re made to look like a player and can be customized to your team’s kit!
Not only does he have a bunch of EPL teams in stock, along with some national squads, he’ll include your favorite player’s name and number on the back free of charge! I’m not sure about y’all, but I love discovering unique, random gear, especially when it’s soccer themed. With that in mind, I’ll be starting a new series of posts about Footy Gear – brands, websites, artists, etc. that pique my interest and exude a love of the Beautiful Game through a creative medium. Be sure to keep checking back for new installments!
But for now, head on over to Brickstand (slick name too, eh?) and check out his work!
Hands clasped, we pray for olé!
